• The eight House Names during the 1980’s were :

• In 1980, Mount Royal’s enrolment peaked at 1,858 students. By 1983 there were over 2,000 students.
• In 1982 Mount Royal introduced the homeroom concept.  That year there was a significant addition to the computer centre – making it “the best-equipped computer area in the province.”
• 1n 1982 Mount Royal hosted the first Royal Tipoff Basketball Tournament.
• In 1983 the S.R.C. recognized former Principal, John Smyth, by naming the Victory Bell in his honour.
• In 1988 a Teen Parent Daycare opened at Mount Royal.

Some yearbooks didn’t include pictures of all the clubs and activities.  Therefore, for the purpose of the 80’s website write-up we have included any sport team, club or activity that was mentioned in the 1980 – 1989 yearbooks. Some of these lasted the entire decade while others came and went depending on the year. Graduates will remember what they took part in. We hope this synopsis spurs your memory:
